Google In Education

The photo says it all “Tools that your entire schools can use, together”. Google Apps for Education (GAFE) is a suite of apps applications from Google. Yes they can be used by anyone, but schools and educational institutions can maximize the apps for FREE. You hear right….FREE.  Google Apps for Education include (but not limited to) Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, slides, presentation, paint, and Sites. The GAFE account unlocks access to dozens of other collaborative tools supported by Google. All of these applications exist completely online (or in the cloud), meaning that all creations can be accessed from any device with an Internet connection. Did I mention collaboration….we will get into more in later posts, and of course show examples.

All GAFE work together and have similar menus and functions. They are Cloud based and backed up on Google’s servers, accessible from any computer and mobile device, runs fast, no lost flash drives or corrupted drives. here is a huge amount of resources, tips, ideas, and lessons for using Google’s apps in education from educators. I plan to load of the “Google Tools” page of this blog as a support for students and Educators of Milford. CHECK BACK OFTEN and share your ideas.

I am a strong believer in quality training – combined with –  a great long-term support structure is key to a successful implementation of any technology. When you show too many options and you fail to properly train AND support your staff you will find that the staff will become resistant to any changes. I strongly believe in GAFE and super strongly (if that is a phrase) believe that supporting teachers is the key to success. In my role I am driven to accomplish both in Milford!!
